Bookstore in the Magical World
Monday, July 19, 2010The very bookstore where all Hogwarts students purchases their spell books, with Galleons and Sickles… Wouldn’t it be great for us Muggles if we have a chance to take a trip there to browse through the magical collection of books as well?
Flourish & Blotts is an old and respected bookstore in Diagon Alley. Being established in 1684 it has long been the supply for the Hogwarts-students to buy their textbooks. The shop is made out of two storeys, both totally filled with bindings, and it has the smell of old parchment. The shop is small, but cosy, and almost always with customers searching through the shelves which take up all the walls, not leaving a single space left. Even the floor is stacked with books in piles, placed just so that you can navigate your way around. The bookstore is sorted after subject and selling numbers – there is no system of the authors’ name. But even with this in mind the workers can easily fetch whatever book you are asking for. The owner of the bookstore is Donovan Flourish.
The Flourish & Blotts bookstore as shown in the movie… Is this how you imagined the bookstore would be like when you’re reading Rowling’s books? It’s amazing how a tiny bookstore can be jampacked with so many books and the best part is, the storekeeper can magically locate the book with a wave of the wand! How awesome if BookXcess team have such privilleges too! Haha! This bookstore gives us a sense of wonder & coziness, don’t you agree?
The ever famous book by Hagrid when he took up the role as “Care for Magical Creatures” teacher in Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban… A Hippogriff would be very very useful for our city’s traffic-mania huh? Scary book though, ripping off everything in its way… Interesting & imaginative, just stroke its spine and you’ll be able to tame the book.
Look! The Monster Book of Monsters is made into plushies! Amazing isn’t it?!
What other interesting books do you notice when you were reading the book or watching the movie?
